Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between palliative care and end of life care?
Palliative care eases symptoms and supports quality of life for anyone with a life-limiting illness, sometimes for months or years. End of life care is the part of palliative care for the last weeks or days of life.
What does live-in palliative care include?
Help with washing, dressing and moving, comfort and repositioning, meals and drinks, medication prompts, company and support for the family. Our carers do not give nursing care or manage syringe drivers; the district nurses and hospice team do that.
What is Fast Track palliative care funding?
NHS continuing healthcare Fast Track is a quick route to NHS funding for someone whose condition is deteriorating rapidly and who may be nearing the end of life. A clinician, such as a GP, hospital doctor or nurse, completes the Fast Track tool. See our CHC guide.
