Frequently asked questions
Is Pinnacle a live-in care agency or a care provider?
Pinnacle is a CQC-regulated care provider and is not an introductory care agency. That means we stay responsible for your care: we assess your needs, write and review the care plan, supervise the care and arrange cover when your carer takes a break. Live-in carers work with us on a self-employed basis.
What does a live-in carer for an elderly person do?
A live-in carer helps with washing, dressing and using the toilet, prepares meals, supports with medication, keeps the home clean, helps with appointments and outings, and provides company. Our carers do not provide nursing care; healthcare stays with the GP and community nurses. Read what live-in care is.
Is private live-in care available across the UK?
We provide live-in care in England, with Chester and Cheshire West as our home area. Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland have their own regulators, and we do not provide care there.
How do I choose between live-in care providers?
Check the provider's CQC rating and latest report, ask who writes and reviews the care plan, how carers are matched and trained, what happens when a carer needs a break or is ill, and ask for a written price. Our guide managed vs introductory live-in care lists the questions to ask.
How much does live-in care cost per week?
The UK median is about £1,610 a week (Lottie Home Care Index, 30 September 2026). The cost depends on the care needed, couples and nights. We give you a written price after a free assessment.
